Default Carbon Clean Fuel System - V6 Ecotec

    Hi guys

I bought a 1999 VT Acclaim wagon about a month ago. After driving my dad's VS with the same engine, I feel that the engine in my car is lacking a bit of oomph. I've had a look at a couple of posts that show pics of dirty gunky throttle bodies, plenum chambers, injectors, etc. Now, my wagon has done 320,000km, so maybe after all those kays the fuel system could most likely be full of gunk.

I've been looking at the Wynns Fuel Service System where they carbon clean the whole fuel system. Has anyone had it done and if so what were the results like? Or, are there any other options available to me. Put it this way, it wouldn't hurt to give the fuel system a good once over but I am trying to find the best way to do it.

    Any help would be appreciated

320,000km's is the reason for lack of oomph.
The fuel service system could help, but i dont think it would a great deal.

It all depends what you want the extra oomph for?

Tired engine, you reckon? Yeah, 320,000km is a lot of kays!!

I'm not out to drag everybody, I'd just make an arse of myself if I did. I also own a VP and it feels more spritely if you know what I mean (its does 270,000km). Maybe coz its a lighter car too.

Also, it could help with fuel consumption too I gather. If its runs cleaner it should run leaner.

Thanks for your views, thats why I posted it. Food for thought

I reckon she would be a bit tired, yeah. But in saying that when I had my VN berlina it still ran strong with a stuck closed thermostat and a blocked injector (found the issues when we were replacing the motor) and it had 300+ km's on it.

    Im sure it couldn't hurt.

However the detergents for the oil system you can buy (engine-detox) can be very harmful to high-km's engines, as they can dislodge all manner of built up crap, that can kill an engine.
    ^^^ I've seen this happen

Yeah, sometimes its the crap in the engine holding it together!!! haha

In all honesty, it runs smooth, no nasty engine noises, just seems a little lacking in the go-pedal!!

I wonder too (coz they don't dismantle anything, just send the cleaning fluid thru the fuel system) that all the crap from the throttle body or the injectors that gets dislodged by the cleaning process, is gonna be banging around the cylinders then finally out of the exhaust. Will it foul up the plugs or damage the pistons/cylinders?

Depends what sort of stuff is stuck in there!
Hate to know how a (tiny little) rock would get in there, but if it did......... bye bye motor.

I have a VX Lumina now but used to have a VP. I reckon the VP would eat this VX so I wouldn't stress too much. Commodores just got fatter and heavier with later models
