Default Strange VT temperature gauge problems

I've had this happen to me about three times so far now but in pretty consistent intervals. Ive been noticing my temp gauge rapidly climbing all the way up to H in the red and "hot" coming up in the little display window and then going back to normal minutes later. My car doesn't even overheat?? Any ideas?

When this happens does the High fan speed come on?
If it does its the Coolant temp sensor.

    Yes

there should be a low speed fan and a high speed fan in the front.
When the coolant temp sensor goes faulty the high fan speed will come on.
    For safety.

yea im pretty sure they do come on. So does this mean the sensors need replacing? Where is it located?

The coolant temp sensor i think is on the back right of the motor This signsl goes to the PCM.
There is another sensor for the gauge it self it is located near the thermostat side of the block.
It will have one wire coming out of it.
But if the High fan speed is coming on then it will be the coolant temp sensor.

Like i said if the High fan speed is coming on while this is happening and the motor is not cold at all
It will be the coolant temp sensor needs replacing.
Try and fiddle with the connectors and see what happens.
I would test for fault codes and replace the coolant temp sensor with these symtoms.
