    Default Cabin heater core removal

Hello everyone at the JC universe.

I'll cut the story short. Here in Brunei, I never have any reason to use the heater function on the thermostat. the average temps throughout the year is around 28 - 31C, so there is no practical reason for me to warm up the interior of the car, even on nights. Lately I had to replace the heater bypass valve twice as it was prone to leaking and was the main reason why my original engine blew apart from overheating more then 6 months ago.

I've run a bypass hose and circumnavigated the function of the bypass valve, ie not sending any coolant to the heater core. Flushed the entire coolant system and used Nulon coolant in my new engine.

Its been two months already, and the engine temp is still registering normal temps and the AC is still very cold even under the midday sun and 31C heat. Absolutely no loss in engine power and the engine bay looks less complicated by having the bypass valve removed together with the hoses.

The question here is, the heater valve meant for cooler climates? Is my modification a safe long term solution? I've taken my car thru all kinds of driving which she'll endure, so far no problems. What are your opinions?

I think it should be alright. All you appear to have done is shorten the length the coolant travels, from the sounds of it you haven't blocked anything off so i don't see any issues you may have.

I'm kinda paranoid when it comes to cooling systems coz the last time i had to repair the car it cost me close to $5k and that meant replacing an entire engine. I'm now thinking of adding REDline water wetter to assist in cooling the engine and maybe FIT 81deg thermostats. If nothing else bothers the engine cooling, then it'l stay that way.

You will have no problems running it like that. If you don't need the heater then what you have done is fine.
