Timing Chain

When does the timing chain need to be replaced on a vx?
I've just checked my workshop manual and it doesn't mention anything.
The last couple of cars I had were at 100k.

when it's either broke or you have some side effects from a stretched chain...really, i never gave that much thought but i have never really heard of them having to be changed at a regular interval...thats the beauty of them over belts, which usually get changed at 100,000k's anyway

Yep......The V6 and LS1 both have timing chains

Unless you camd it it should last the life of the engine, ks being dependant on service history and neglect.

The earlier 3.8’s had problems with timing chains flogging out didn’t they? Although you can definitely hear it when it’s buggered

Mine was done at about 250 000km before I bought it.

the early ve v6 alloytec engines had problem timing chains
most cars the chain is good for the life of the engine
not to be confused with timing belt which must be changed regularly
