i decided to change my custom K&N pod filter setup with the stock airbox, and my god, possibly the best thing i could have done. so much smoother, and more acceleration throughout the revv range. might upgrade to a 2 hole mod, and put a piece of pipe in behind the headlight to get some more cold air.
another thing, is there any good OTR CAI to upgrade the stock snorkel? just to get more cool air in the box?
richard
ok, how long ago did you do it? notice much with it or not too noticeable?
is the bigger the cai the better?? or just how cold it is?
self made cai that go below the air inteke height are an acident in waiting..
make a bonnet type or a front side vent type..
if you ever hit water you be ram water induction to the engine...and it wont like it and it most certainly not take it well...
no one in there right mine in aussie places things lower in car closer to water...
ever seen a 4wd do that or a hot rod or drag car...NO
buy a spare bonnet and make your special air ram ...shark fin ..air ram........and get it clean...and withouut risk of water flooding in..
ram is is the way to go...
cold ram air will require air mass changes...and new tuning
water sprayed ram iar and air con cooled or themo temp changed air are the best...
however get real...you got a car worth 4k---35k.....you want a real toy get the pocket ready....
But bonnet ram air ...is safer.....and could be very slick..looks wise...
enjoy fella's
hey the 2 hole mod i was gonna try is the one from v6 performance, i saw a pic of it and it has a 2.5 inch pipe going behind the headlight and a 3 inch pipe down near the radiator. instead of paying $400 for it, why not make it for 20?
i agree, go the $20 option and spend the other $380 on extractors or something.
lol i actually lashed out and spent about $35theres a pic of mine if ya need any ideas.
same sort of thing, in under headlight. its done me alright so far, been on for 2-3 years, and it DID make a difference.
One of my VT LS1's is still running an airbox. It has a capa OTR intake connected to the airbox by a 90mm pipe. Then i drilled an 70mm hole in the airbox & stuck a pipe into it going down behind the rear of the front bar. As yet i have driven in the rain, through puddles for ages with no water getting in. The only thing so far is a bit extra road dust in the bottom of the airbox. I wouldnt drive through a creek or anything stupid, but who would anyway.
Total cost of mod including the CAPA OTR intake $60
the enclosed pod cai from mace or fit works well
