Default VT - Exchange engine won't start

    Hi All,

I have a VT1 Supercharged Calais. I have just replaced the original motor (blown head gasket and noisy heads) with a complete VT11 supercharged engine with wiring loom.

The exchange engine will crank over for about 2 seconds before cutting out, then won't crank at all. If you remove the key and wait 30 seconds or so and try again, it will crank over for 2 seconds and cut out again. It sounds like it wants to fire up, but something electrical shuts things down first. I have tried both engine control modules, no difference.

The ignition key is charged and opens the doors and turns off the immobiliser, so appears to be no problems there.

I am about to call the auto electrician, but hope there is a simple fix, any ideas?

    Regards

First of all... who installed it?
If a mechanic installed it take it back to them.

Second of all, the ecu's could be fried.
3rd of all.. it does sound electric. Tripple check all the wires, fuses and sensors are all connected.

First thing I would be checking is your main engine fuse.

just sounds like the immobilizer. not 100% but don't you need to get your BCM and computer paired? just something a mate told me when we were talking about swapping motors.

Hey guys i have encountered the same problem when i swap my motor ,i got motor loom and ecu (pcm) ,so when i was done i swap the pcm obver with the one i got with changeover motor and it did the same thing go to crank then just cut out then wont crank at all, the problem is that the pcm has to be linked with the bcm so i all i did was put my original pcm back in and it worked fine with the chip in the changeover pcm and my original chip hope this helps.

    Default PCM swapover

    Thanks for your feedback folks.

I'll swap the PCM over on the weekend and see if this fixes the problem.

    Default Update

Swapped the PCM (ECU's) over, no luck still won't start.

Swapped the chips over in the PCM's, still no luck.

I am told that I may have to remove the VT2 engine wiring loom and refit the VT1 wiring loom.

Will send it to the auto electrician on Monday and see what they come up with.

When you change the ECU it must be linked to the BCM for security reasons and this must be done with a Tech 2.
