.. Cant quote but roughly $2-3k.

A new 5.7 create engine for the R8 would only be round 3-5k

    a rebuild isnt much less.

well a short motor from the wreckers might cost you $650----1500 depends where you go and how many miles the engine has... day to fit and and rip....$750..plus parts
verse strip down and remove your own..engine and rebuild it...depends what else is needed
and depends on how good you do it...
the heads are ok...and dont need a skim...or anything...just piston and rings...a gasket kit maybe $250-270...a water pump 70 coolant and oil and fan belt etc
I think the heads would need a skim even if it 1000th you took off...prob $150
you clean it up with a brush if needed....inside... scrape off all the old gasket remains ...

    check out this site ...
    Price List

that should show you the sort of money you be after...

Yup unless you know of a way to undo the conrods without removing the sump.

I am not saying it would not be impossible to do (the sump still has to come off). It would be a pain trying to jack it up enough to get the sump off then trying to undo the conrods and then trying to push the piston assembly out through the top of the block.

It would be so much easier with it out.
