Default My new Altezza headlights and LED driving lights

I have finally got my Altezza Headlights and have installed them into my car. I have also added some LED strips to look similar to the audi lights. I've posted a video on youTube as it's too hard to take a decent photo.

I have been hesitant to post it on here because of the s*** canning I could receive, but oh well, you'll either love it or hate it.

    YouTube - Video080.mp4

The only problem is the left hand parker which is a different freakin white! Not happy about that. Also the right hand LED strip doesn't appear as bright because for some reason the bumper sits like 1mm higher there, so that cuts out a little bit of the light, which you can tell in the video. But other than that I'm pretty happy with the look .

100 % improvment over the dicky green you had.

Are the strips stuck to outside of the altezzas or the inside?
Would be an idea to have a switch for them as im not sure how legal that would be.
I have the same strip in my glove box and i know their hell bright.

haha, the green parkers? They've been gone for quite sometime now, just haven't got around to updating my avatar here lol.
The strips are on the outside of the light. Didn't want to go sticking my new headlights in the oven just yet lol.

You think I might have trouble with cops? I figured that they're white, they're practically in the headlight, so I shouldn't have a problem... I did think about a switch, but it started to piss down with rain, and with the strong winds, the rain was being pushed in under the carport, so I had to fix everything up pretty quick.

Looks good. I put similar ones on my car a few moths ago and haven't had problems with cops. Plenty of cops have looked at them when driving past and they haven't stopped me. They are a white light and although they are bright, they are not blinding so I don't think you will have any problems.

i dont see how ud have a problem either they r white and aslong as they r mounted properly n wired up 2 the parkers i cant see how they can sticker u.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
I've got a definite answer to the legality of them. The kind policeman that pulled me over 30 mins ago informed me that they are in fact illegal, they're too 'dazzling', stupid SA road law.
Turns out even my LED parkers are illegal!! They're 'super bright', and they're too 'dazzling'. Loving the use of quotes here.

Anyway, if you still want to try it yourself, what I did was use these LED strips. I got them from american eBay
20" side glow SMD LED Light strip thin White Audi style : eBay Motors (item 170435419411 end time Mar-22-10 03:39:26 PDT).
Can't remember if the're the exact ones, but they're pretty damn close, so you can use those.
I cut them to length, and just used the stickey that's already on there - can't comment on how they go with the sun as it's only been raining since I've had them in.
I spliced them into the parkers power wire, but now I'll be wiring in a switch as well.

It was a fair since to do. The strips are weather proof, so they can get wet.

I'm not sure what else to say... If you wanna know anything else just ask, but it's all really easy, trust me.

You could still use them in the day.
What about those huge trucks that are covered in LEDs.

Or the new HSV models that have them on consistently?

Try ringing Regency and getting a straight answer from them. Some police will try to tell you it's illegal when it's not, or alternatively, let you off with a defectable item.

Interesting quote, Mr SAPOL obviously hasn't driven past an Audi, or E2 HSV recently; I would check with your local roads authority, I would also look up the writen requirements for forward facing vehicle lights as no doubt the road authority will put it in the too hard basket and call it illegal whether it is or isn't.

This is exactly what I said to my gf on the way to my house after picking her up (I was on my way to her house when I got pulled over). I wasn't going to start being smart with the cop though, he was pretty cool about it, was even a little impressed, but I just said yeah I'll turn em off, and he let me on my way.

Didn't even have them for a week yet! lol

I think the only problem with my lights compared to the Audi or HSV is that with mine you can see individual lights, but with the other cars, they look more like a line. But really, I'm not going to cause crashes by people turning their head to check it out.

SA need to fix up their laws really, we're not even allowed to drive with fog lights on during the day, stupidest law ever.
