Alright, so i was getting annoyed, had some problems with my car overheating (one of the hoses from the heater tap had come off and i lost all my water)
Have a bad oil leak too so i guessed that didn't help. Anyway bypassed the heater tap so it goes back into the engine.
So i figured might as well put some oil in the car (Didn't check it first i know stupid) as i have a bad oil leak (you can see it coming out pertty quick from the balancer...sprays it everywhere, getting fixed tuesday so wasn't too worried) just figured would have lost quite a lot.
Anyway, thing is now i check my oil, its about 6-8cm over the "Full" Line.
I understand having too much oil can cause me to blow a head gasket, but is this worse case senario?
Got about 30km to drive home from work before i can empty some out...will it last this far or am i going to screw up my car?
Cheers guys, runs fine with fk all oil in there... lol
Oh theres no noises, or smoke coming from exhaust or anything.
Thing is my work doesn't have any spanners, or anywhere to do it...i'm in the work carpark don't think they'd be happy with oil all over the floor lol
Do you have anything to undo your wheelnuts in your boot ? That's 19mm. Could get it onto your sump plug and drain it slowly into a small coke bottle or can using the sump plug as a way to control the flow.
There's no supercheap or repco nearby? Surely you could find something to use as a drip tray...
How much oil do you think i would need to pull out if its 8cm over the MAX line. And does it need to go right down to the line or is 1cm over okay?
More i think about it, less i wanna screw my car up... just means getting dirty in my business clothes lol.
Oh well, guess shirt can come off :P Do it in my boxers, give the girls in the surrounding buildings a show. Sure the old women will love that.
I am curious now, WHY would having too much oil in the pan cause the head gasket to fail?......WTF
I once over filled my sump, not by 6-8 cm, but by around 2-3 cm, and when I checked the level after a few days of belting around, it had settled back to its normal level just above the full mark. Apparently having burned off the excess with no ill effects.
