Gidday all,
I thought I'd relate a weird fault I had with my new VX Calais that I just bought in January.
When I bought her, we decided to test it out by driving her to Warwick to see my mum, we live on the Gold Coast, soi its not a long drive, about 2 1/2 hours or so. All was ok until we got home again, and it overheated, I checked her over and it was that u shaped hose at the back of the engine, l67 owners will know the one, she's a bugger to change. The wife and I changed it and replaced the thermosta while we were at it for good measure. Did the bleed it here bleed it there thing all ok, but I was watching the tem gauge like a hawk. All was fine until I went to Gosford last month for a quick family holiday. Before we went, I did a 180000K service as per the log book as it aws due, no big deal new oil and filter, check a few things etc. Got to about Taree and noticed some green liquid on the ground under her, and the smell of coolant, arrrgghh! On the way down to Taree the climate control had been playing up, not keeping the temp stable and blowing hot air sometimes, I though that the a/c might be 'iced up' as I had that happen in my old VL once. Anyway, I found that I hadnt tightened the bleed screw on the thermo cover enough and that was the leak I saw, tightened her up and no leak! Best of all the climate control works a treat now!. I can olny guess that maybe the coolant aws spaying out on the a/c lines? Oh well hope it helps someone else!
Regards,
Raff.
