Hi I have a VT Series 2 2000 Model I have had problems with my horn at first i thought it was a fuse so i replaced the fuse afterthis soon as i hit the horn TICK!! I hear the fuse crack im not sure weather it is shorting out along the line or wether this is a common problem with the horn any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks guys.
This is where you have to crawl under your car, disconnect the feed to your horn at the horn terminals. Then use a multimeter and see if you're still getting 12V between the feed and frame of your car when you press the horn. That will confirm if your wiring is still good. If it is, your horn is stuffed so replace the horn. And yes it is common for horns to burn out eventually.
Thanks aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
msot likely its a shrot in the wire man .. happens in most cars..
If its just ticking .. it means it either aint earthing or powering enough.
Or just to be sure.. give your horn a check? run direct power to itsee if it beeps. Cover your ears though lol. soon as u touch it to the power it goes off lol
I had a horn issue with my VTII which was more related to the steering wheel. After Suttons told me I needed a new horn pad/airbag I returned to the vehicle and got all physical in the approximate area of the switches and normal operation resumed and has stayed so since.
Amazing what initiative arises from the offer to spend $400-500 on something seemingly useless.
I did take this opportunity to crawl under the front wheels and install a more appropriate sounding trumpet though. The Barina beep never suited the authority deserved to such a noble vehicle!
