my ls1 is starting to make top end noise were do get parts///

hey every1 i converted myself a gen3 out of my vx i rolled into a vt6 i bought its been gud for ages but my trans played up free reved 1st to2nd(i now realise it was most likely my fault for moding the tb n maf) now my top ends making a tapping noise (i no it sounds not right) so rather then take it to the dealer n get ahuge repair bill i was thinking come racing cam 550$ come lifters220$ come springs n retainers 450$ wud this be a gud fix ill do the work myself// im far from a mechenic n i dont now were to get parts from also im on a pension so im lookig for a cheap soloution. any help wud be much appreciated..

depends on the sort of noise ur getting, is it a normal lifter noise tap, or a duller knocky type tap like the case hardening on the cam lobe has worn off,

as we had a 01 caprice with 120k on the clock come into work after the owner replace every external moving part on the engine and couldnt work out the noise and it turned out to be the cause hardening was rubbed off the camshaft on 2 lobes,

is your car still ideling completely fine or starting to get a tiny miss

hey bud yea idles fine she always has except wen i did the t.b mod but i did the idle relearn trick n it was sweet. i just bought a comp cam-5441811 plus comp rods n yella terra roller rockers.. now i have to get new lifters n beehive springs um new head gaskets n head bolts n running fluids n ill be ready to get dirty hands...i was planning on using the original retainers.. think doin all this shud fix d prob? so yea thanx for your reply cheers>>>
