Hello all.. I live in Canberra and I've bought a commodore 1997 commodore VT in canberra and a week later i drove it down to Melbourne. I've got into an accident and the damage was done in the left front regardless the right fenders are also damaged. In total, two fenders, one bumper, two sidemirrors, head lights and two wheels are damaged. The engine turns on and off perfect and steering wheel turns still smoothly. The car has a well maintained engine and interior. It has 150,000+ kms on the clock and is now garaged at a friends house in Melbourne. I bought this car for 3,500. Since I had left a week after buying it off from somone, I haven't changed the name yet. I had gone to ACT breakes in Mitchll for the Road Worthy and I just needed 4 new tyres to pass the test in order to change the name. Well i am a bit confused of what to do as i m not familiar with mechanics and prices in Australia as i m new to the country. I've talked to a few wreckers before leaving melbourne and the most they offered was 500$to buy my car. Well I dont want to sell it that low considering the engine and the interior condition of the car.
So i m thinking if i should get it fixed and then go through the road worthy test and changing names of the owners or just buy a new commodore from the start and save the trouble. But i am just worried that i may not find a commodore around the same prices 3,500 with the similar condition.
I would like to keep the car if everything to fix it up for the roadworthy would be less than 2,000. Since i m not familiar with the prices, please help me through with this.
Cheers.
