vx rear end knocking noise

i have a knocking noise coming from the rear end usually when braking just as im coming to a stop it doesnt do it all the time any ideas as to what it could be also does it when im on the brake for a while in a drive thru when bracking and when i release the brake to creep forward

happened to my cousin a few times, his diff joints came loose coz he drives his car like a mofo. could be completely unrelated to yours though. just a thought

hmmmm yeh well i had it checked at my local holden joint they checked under the car but found nothing loose not sure if they checked the diff joints though cheers mate i'll have a look
