    Default Broken VT Drivers Seat

The front drivers seat in my 98 VT is broken, the side panel plastic has come off and the cushion has split inside (the fabric is intact)- so I am sitting on the support bars inside. Anyone know where I can get the cushion fixed or should I just change out the seat?

Take the seat to a motor trimmer. They will take the cover off your seat and fix the foam.
Don't go to a wrecker, as a whole seat will cost more in time and money. You will also only end up with what you already have....a second hand seat!!

That's the thing with a second hand one, it will have the same problem.

    Ok, know of any? Links/cost?

VERY common problem, the seat frames tend to rip the foam apart over time in the VT/VXs. My Monaro is the same.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

Same thing happened in my VT. I solved it by buying a whole interirior (front and rear seats and door trims) from a VZ berlina off Ebay for only $300. Best $300 I spent on the car. Even better, I sold the old seats on ebay to a guy wo only wanted the trim off the seats. He didn't care that the foam was damaged. Got $75 for them so the new interior only cost me $225 and a couple of hours. BARGAIN!!

I must admit though, there were lots of people triying to sell a set of front seats for around $600. I just waited for the right ones to come up.

Oh yeah, when i removed the trim from my old seats, I found that the trim is glued in place very well and no matter how careful I was I couldn't avoid tearing some if the soft foam that covers the high density foam. I would be very surprised if a motor trimmer could get the trim back in place after repairing the damaged cushioning and have it looking descent without charging an arm and a leg.

Now I have a set of side airbags that I need to decide what to do with.......

    Good luck!
