hey guys can u help???? also tech2 Gets no reading so i cant see the fault codes.. also all this free reeving has made a tappy noise out the motor-were can i get cheap replacement cam lifters springs ect???
that sounds like the auto is slipping bad. My mate had the same problem in his car, would not happen in first but the rest of the gear it would just rev out and go nowhere if he gave it more than 25% throttle.
He had his rebuilt and problem solved.
Check your fluid level, I had this problem when I engine swapped my VR, but it turned out fluid was about 2L low. The dipstick had lied to me.

if its slipping in 2nd, you have either burnt your band an its no longer grabbing the drub or u have snapped it theres no band aid fix, the box has to come out
u can get a cheap job where they wil just replace soft parts like frictions in both drums and engine braking frictions and band
but with out touching the piston seals in the drums for usually less then 1k
or u can go the whole hog and get a complete rebuild with all seals rings and frictions changed for about the 1800 mark
as with everyone asking about rebuilds i always recommend getting the reaction shell replaced with the toughend version that is usually reffered to as the beast reaction shell
as the original in 4l60's are not that flash and its a pain when they break and u loose reverse

do as savage says as it is the easier/cheaper option and it could save u money,
but i am a mechanic/transmission rebuilder by trade, and more ofen then not with the ammount of k's most vt/vx models would have on them it going to be something a little more then a bit low on oil
and vt onwards has a better designed cooler system for the transmission then the vr set up they have been rerouted in a different way along the engine with thicker metal piping and not using standard rubber oil hoses with a clamp on it
and the turbo700/4l60 dosent usually have alot of problems with the box itself leaking
the trans is full as so the dipstick says... check it all the time.. last time i split it from the motor i topped it up. no probs since-fluid level hasent chANGED... im not game to add more as it will read overfull and im sure that cant help..... how on earth could the dipstick read wrong its hasnt been bent or modified its seated properly in the trans.. truth is i have really flogged the car into second alot so i thik the rebuild is the go.. ill bite the bullet fork out the cash and baby it around untill sum unsuspecting 6ltr wants a race lol..
thankyou though to everyone who replied... muchly appreciated... i live in warwick qld so if anyone knows somwhere close to get it rebuilt plz let me no.. thankyou...
its either burnt out paper clutches or way too low fluid...and reviing it out dont help..
it could it was low and in need of new oil and filter....and now it needs a rebuild...
so....
maybe its worth a trip to ipswich...land of wreckers....and grab a replacement auto....
remember next time revving something that dont go in normal revs is not goin to fix anything...
but now its done...take to a auto tranny guy in warick and ask him to take a look at the oil and filter etc...and 2nd gear ...
he will tell you if its beyond saving...

2nd gear is applyed by the band in a 4l60 and once they go its gone, no ammount of oil and filters will save it,
generally once all the friction material burns and wears off from the slipping the piston in your servo starts to run out of travel because of the return spring no longer grabs the drum, and when u rev it, it ups the line pressure and pushes the pistin in a slight bit more and it trys to engage,
just make sure when you get it done shop around abit, dearer isnt always better, our workshop has about the best price in in the whole area and by no means is there any skimping on work, jus food for thought
