Exclamation VT will turn over but wont fire?!

    Hi guys,

I've been having a bit of trouble with my dad's V6 VT, most time when i try to start it, it will crank over but never fire.. leave it 30 mins, Bam fires first time(But not always sometimes it wont start for a whole day). My dad thinks it may be an immoboliser problem in the key but the key is only a couple of months old. Please help!

Is the security light off or flashing when it won't start?

Is the security light the esclamation mark in the circle with brackets around it? If so then it just stays on. I just went down stairs and it starting 4 times in a row with no problems at all so i don't have a clue whats worng with it..

The security light is the red LED that blinks in the Trip Computer (MODE) switch housing. BCM might need replacing, it's a bit pricey but hey, a car needs to start.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

if u leave the ignition on reds for a couple minutes and then try it then if it starts first go, replace the relays for fuel pump,
happened on a vx at work the other week sometime u could crank the car for ages nothign would happen but leave the ignition on and it would start first time,

i think some of the relays must build up resistance and not let enough current thru for pump to build initial pressure,

Once the key is turned to ON the light goes out.

I will give this a try later today, hopefully the problem is that simple.

Me too! Seems to be about 4-5 cars doing this but all different I guess in terms of mods. I am hoping for the key as I had the car serviced and comes up with no faults at all
