Ok im kinda new to the car scene.. so bare with me..
ok so the other night i was driving home and not paying attention.. when i found myself go onto the footpath curb i swurved back onto the road quickly and a fair thud was dealt out.. when i was back on the road some water went onto my windscreen im guessing just from my window washers, then when i got home.. the fans behind the radiator started up, very loudly and they have never started up like that before.. i didnt worry too much about it... checked oil and coolant all was well, so i drove to tafe today on the way home.. i found myself having a TOTAL lack of power, when i accelerated quicker my car would vibrate when i reached the speed i wanted, so say.. i came around i corner and accelerated back to 100 it would vibrate when at 100, or 80 or whatver, now it only used to do this weird vibration when i was going up to 60 just before 60 it would have a small vibrate, then once on 60 it would stop, now it does it alot... i really want to know whats going on.. because i have looked at everything i know.. roughly about and cant see anything... help out please if you can! thanks.
Hi mate,
I would take your car to a mechanic or a suspension place for a check. It could be something simple like the thud knocking your alignment out of whack, you could have damaged a wheel or lost your balancing leads on a wheel. Worst case, you could have broken something on your suspension. Best to get it checked properly if you can't see anything obviously broken.
ok.....since your saying 2 things...
thing 1 ..you had a vibration but only at 60
now
thing 2 since the wack the car treatment ..its vibration is elewhere to boot...
Ok what you had before could be tyres/rim/ ....balance and roundness issue
also it could be bad worn wheel bearings ...or loose worn wheel bearings...
it also could be damaged steering system in which it could be ...
stabilizer or link or rubber that was about to let go and loose or worn and now has let go
same deal for steering system...
the power steering could had a leak..and now is shot...
or rake was wearing out and now its broken more....
same deal for shockie
same deal for spring
same thing for ball joint
or even a wheel stud or 2 has snapped or loss of wheel nuts
these steering and wheels and stability sway bars ..etc..etc..etc...
First thing you should do is jack up the front of the car and pull off each sides wheels..
and check the balances on the wheels are there...on both sides..
and have the both wheels checked for trueness...and balance
when you know the wheels that is ..tyres and rims are fine....
check the shockies and springs...
check the swap bar..rubbers and links
check the ball joints
check the wheel rotaion and bearings
then check the steering for leaks or loss of fluid or noises
OR take the car the good tyre place or pedders etc..
and have it tested...
But dont keep driving it untill you sorted this out....
the fan issue .........is another main issue.....best sorted by a mechanic....
you may have to have a real good look yourself...for damage....\
pleanty of the boys on here will tell you that police that curb hop...cars ...the car needs allot of checking and fixing from a visit over a curb....
and its unsafe not to be sure and checked...its a safety issue..and roadworthy issue...
if you can get a set of drive on ramps...and good high lift jack....use it well
and check the whole car out...
if the car is not too clean ...
blast it first ..at the drive in cleaning stations...and clean all the front ....
park the car out side to dry...
when dry park the car on some cardbord....and ramp it or jack it...
look for fluid trace on the board...while left standing..etc
anyway good luck

so how much are we talking here? if i take it to a mech, cos i have nooo idea what any of the things you just said are haha (embarrising) to get absolutely everythin checked and absolutely everything done to fix the problem.
With fans coming on and a total lack of power it seems as though your engine is working hard like you are towing something heavy or have something dragging like the brakes are on all the time. I'd be suspicious of the brake pads being jammed against the disc; one might have been bent or fractured. Also check your engine mounts or have someone do it for you; one may have snapped with the force of hitting the gutter
i prob did not say that clear enough in my answer check rubbing of brake pads
or disc...
as well as bearings etc...
maybe something is rubbing on the fan belt now..or a pulley or tensioner?
maybe because its bent or frozen from a recent impact...
could be a dragging clutch in the air con...
could be a harmonic with issues and crankcase sensor issue...
could be anything... you need to looking first...
