    Default A few VT problems

Hi, I have a few problems with my 97 VT.

    - Get a squeeking noise when wheels are turning, doesnt happen all the time.

    - at low speed I hear rattling coming from under the car, cadalic converter maybe?

    - Blinker switch, occasionally makes noises like I have the blinker on even though I dont.

    - The brake makes a noise whenever I take my foot of it. I Did recently change the brake pads.

any info on what the cause is and how to fix them would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    ok....
    well....lets see...
squeaking noise..could be since you used new brake pads ....you never got the discs machined...
and possible is ..there is a ledge in the running surface...
    option 1 get them machined.....

option 2 could be that the anti shatter of pads is lost its full flex...and they need replacing...

option 3 it could be you need to take the pads out...and where the pads are running the back of pads ...not the braking part...or surface...apply some copper grease....

the blinker ...replace the blinker relay and fuse with new ones...
and inside blinker unit with a new unit ....

the rattle noise could be anything under a car....could exhaust...like loose rubbers --anti vib ..or clamps..etc
could sway bars or links worn or loose

    or springs or shockies...

have that checked...a rattle is usually metal on metal.....and that is not good

    ok, thanks for the reply.

will give them all a go.

The rattling is like a tinny sound and it only does at certain revs, usually round the 30-40 km mark...

theres also a clunk on the drivers door when we go over a bump, like the door isn't closed properly but it is.
And another thing, sometimes when I stop, I only usually notice it when I pull up in my driveway, when I put the brake on it makes a creacking sound, like somethings stretching?

    thanks for the help

the rattling is more and more like exhaust ...deal...and could be rubbers in the brackets

check the clunking in the door...its most likely related to the audio speaker....however it could be window winder related...so check that out....

a craking sound could be...in the brakes.....could be abs related or could be calliper...
you need to have a look at it

Blinker stalk is a common problem with age, recently had mine replaced. You could do it yourself for about 40 bucks. Just swap out the assembly.

Even if you get a mechanic to do it, 100 bucks. Just depends on how much experience you have- or how game you are.
