hey all..
just curious my belts need tightening and a sender is on its way out, ive been quoted a few prices up to $1300 to fix or replace with a reconditioned one, how much more then that am i looking at to do a manual conversion ?
or if i get a replacement unit at the wreckers with warantee....for $350---upwards and it lasts 5-10 years why would i spend 1300 on this one?

Firstly, assuming you mean the band not belt, they are not manual adjustable,
and what do you mean by sender?
The band is adjustable in a 4l60, its just not an easy thing to do u need to buy a longer pin for the servo/piston and grind the tip down to set band clearence, but the only reason you ever need to do that if if your useing an aftermarket band and want to shorten the travel distance of the piston before it applies,
the 2nd hand box is an idea just make sure you get a reputable tranny shop to rip the oil pan off an makse sure there isnt anything suspect looking sitting on the bottom
with sender im gussing maybe inhibitor switch? in not common at all for commodores with a 4l60 in them to cause issuse? or are u refering to somethign else?
