i was looking at buying a tci kit from the states to reduce the cost of my rebuild...can anyone tell me if the tci rebuild kit #398951(its $236 us)for a 93 or later 30 spline........ will suit my commadore??? or the #398950 ($256 us) lts for lt1/ls1.... i planned on dropping the tran and the kit off at the local shop to be rebuilt by them.. (or are they both not right and im way off and should just leave to the experts???)
PLEASE HELP??????
first off why do you want to rebuild it is it broken on the way out going over 500rwhp??
i wouldnt waste your time buying a kit but the time u pay freight and any other taxes if there are any it will cost u the same as a rebuild kit they will use at the shop,
and depending on wat else is damaged in the trans u may need to spend more anyway,
its been driven pretty hard, i dont get any drive in second now.. motors a'lmost stock never dyno'd.. seems to be a lot quicker then most gen3's were i live but i live in the country i guess......i got quoted today approx $2000.00 to get it rebuilt locally.. providing i remove and drop it in.. now im wondering how much a low milage one from a wreckers in brisbane would be???????
yea cheers bud iv given up on that idea now... its either locally rebuilt or wreckers in bris....
on a stock engine id just get another from the wreckers or somethin should get one for 500.if you had a huge cam heads big stally pushin 450 at the treads id go fully rebuilt
yeah matqld just ask the rebuilders if they will give you a warranty i got cought bought a aoto fully rebuilt but then when you read the fine print it must be installed buy them otherwise no warranty. so just make sure they will give you a warranty. i know its not my money but if you can afford a rebuild with shift kit thats the way id be going .
.... Yea thanx con good point... so much on my mind i didnt think of the whole warranty thing...
....i have to order some parts from the states for my engine soon(tryn to organise the auto rebuild whilst i got the engine out) so ill get a b&m shift kit @ same time... works out lot cheaper to get it from over there....
