hey guys just thought id post this.
4 days ago, im coming back from tafe on Gold Coast Highway, i was on a traffic light waiting for it to go green, i was also listening to pretty loud muzik, when all of a sudden i hear a BANG and my head hitting the steering wheel and then back off the seat. I was scared shitless, i open the door and this red Toyota Corolla 1985, bounced off my boot with its front bar ripped off, headlight was hanging out and a broken indicator.
Now, at this point, when i saw her (lady was 38yrs old) i thought there is nothin left off my boot. She points to the side street so we can go there and give details to one another. Now i still havent seen the back off my car. When i got out, i walked around to see wat happend to my car, i only had the back bumper scratches onthere (pretty deep ones) but thats about it, and it also got out of its original position on the left hand side and was a little loose.
I never been in a car crash before so i was pretty shocked and also my head was hurting like hell, so i only took her rego number, i forgot to ask her for her license so i can copy the original address and license number but anywas, she gives me her address and her mob number. She called some ppl that she knew to tow her car away, but instead of doing that they just sticky taped her front bar and she drove off.
When i got home i couldnt find that address that she gave me, i i gave her a call just to confirm her current address, and she answered and said that she was driving and she was gonna call me back (i left her my mob and home number). 3 hrs later i decided to call again and her fone was switched OFF. i got pissed off, as i tryed 10 times after that. Then i sent her a msg saying if you dont answer i will call the cops because you gave me wrong details (back on accident scene she didnt wonna call the cops at all, like she was scared of some shit).
Anyways, in the mornin i go straight to police station and i tell them what happend and they PRINT out her picture on a A4 paper, picture was taken at Southport watchhouse, which means she was in jail or something like that before. The guy goes to me we know her, and he said to go to insurance and let them chase her. (i forgot to mention that she didnt have any insurance on the car).
So i went to NRMA and i told them the whole story and they said dont worry we'll book you in for tuesday the 9th to get your car fixed and we will chase her to pay for it.
I got home at like 11am Thursday and she gives me a ring. I refused to answer but she was so annoying she rang my fone about 20 times and left 10 msgs on my home number, how i called her a lier blah blah blah. So i decided to answer, and then she started abbusing me of how i said that she was a lier. I said "you pushed me to do this, i had no other choice then to call the police and to go my insurance because i couldnt find your address in white or yellow pages". Then she was going on how she lost her job and how she knew some people that can do it cheaper. I said to her "i payed $20k for this car a yr ago and i dont want a dodgy job on my car, it was your fault you didnt brake you hit me, i was standing so my car is going to get fixed proffesionally and they are going to chase you to pay for it, end of story"
That was the last time i heard from her, day after tomorrow i gotta go take my car to NRMA and yeah hopefully it gets fixed this weel.
Just thought id share this with yah =), as it was my 1st car accident and dont forget to always ask for LICENSE grr wish i did haha
cheers
alex.
Geez mate - at least you're okay. I hope the NRMA can catch up with her. Is it gonna affect your no claim discount at all? Hopefully the car will be all fixed shortly and you can put it behind you. And i wouldn't worry about not asking for a licence... chances are you were in a bit of shock and she obviously wasn't going to volunteer any info to you. Best idea you could have had was to go to the police.
Mate i hope nothing like that ever happens again but let this be a lesson for you never let anyone go without getting all the right info..And check the car b4 drive offOriginally Posted by Ev0LuTioN

no i wont have to pay anything like no access fees or nothin, they gonna chase her up and she will eventually pay it off. And yeah, this was a big lesson for me, hope there isnt a next time, but if it does happen i will get the license and copy all the details and also write down the car name and colour.
Just a little update, she called me yesterday as well saying if i could cancel the insurance thing and that she will fix my car in the next 4 - 5 days. I told her no and im sticking with my insurance and i also said not to call me again.
cheers
alex
Lucky escape
that sucks bigtime. hope it all works out so its over with. i hate people like that. they are the first to whinge and whine when the que at centrelink is too long or they dont get their dole check yet when it comes to someone else they couldnt give a ****.
That what insurance is for. Even though I have an old VN I still have full insurance. That way when someone hits me. I call the GIO and say "I have had an accident, sort it out" That is what you pay your money for.

had a guy do exactly the same thing 2 me 'n my older bro on port road in SA. Sitting at the lights, minding our own biz, then WHAMMO!. Completely removed any boot space we had in our car but, guy tried 2 do a runner, crossed the median strip 'n flee in the opp direction, only 2 cook his engine. Found 1/2 of our towbar(yes the actual towbar, not just the tongue) hanging out of his radiator. As we were trapped in the car, 5 dewds that saw the accident from inside a pub, came out and run after the culprit, and kicked the crap out of him, then dragged him back 2 us with his liscence in their hands 'n said,"He's all yours!"
Funniest shit I've ever been involved in..
Luckily our car was only a mazzy 808/RX-3 4 door.
It's unfortunate that she's not insured. Unfortunate for her!
She CHOSE to drive uninsured and is going to learn the lesson the hard way that it is a big gamble to drive uninsured.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW AN AT FAULT PARTY TO ARRANGE TO GET YOUR CAR FIXED, REGARDLESS OF THE HARD LUCK STORY YOU ARE TOLD.
Your insurer will warranty the repairs. You have no idea what type of job the at fault party will "arrange."
This case, is a classic example of why all of us should be insured.

That's also assuming the car was registerd, that the driver even had a current drivers licence and that she wasn't suspended!!
Having insurance and nominating the at fault party saves you the cost of having to privately sue the other driver.
well said mate =)Originally Posted by RKZ234
yea she kept on saying how she knows people and how she can get it for cheap. but thats none of my concern, i got full insurance and i will take my car there. and also its none of my business that she lost her job, thats her fault.
cant belive what ppl are capable of these days and never will![]()
Compulsory Third Party insurance does not cover damage to cars. It is only there for personal injury. If you only have 3rd party and you cause an accident the price of fixing the other person's car will come out of your own pocket. Hence the reason i have both my cars insured with full comprehensive insurance.isnt it illegal to drive a car with no insurance anyway? not that it probably worried the bitch the hit you.... im pretty sure in vic you have to at least have 3rd party.
You can pay for third party motor vehicle insurance but it's not required <<as far as i know>>
Same thing happened to me about 2 months back. Sitting at the lights waiting to go green and a drunk just cruised into the back of me. Gives me a fake number and also failed to report it to police, but lucky me and my fully comprehensive insurance everything got taken care of. Gave them his name and rego and they fixed my car without any fee's or voiding no claim bonus etc. I
f you're stationary when you are hit it can't be your fault UNLESS you're stopped somewhere you shouldnt be. A few years back I ran into a woman at a whopping 5km/h in a merging lane but was cleared of any wrong as she wasn't allowed to be stopped there. Her car wasnt broken down or anything she was just too scared to merge into moving traffic. Geriatric.
I agree with everyone else you should always go straight to your insurance company and fill out a police report, then they take care of everything and you get garaunteed repairs. The guy that hit me wanted to meet me somewhere each fortnight to pay it off in cash. All too legit hey?
luvmycommy.....vic must be different cos 3rd party here covers injury, damage to property and damage to the other vehicle. doesnt cover your own car. you haev to have it.
There are two types of third party insurance in nsw,
Compulsory third party insurance (green slip) which is needed for rego without it you cant get rego.
Third party property insurance which is not compulsory and is your choice to have it or not, that cover you if you run into someone to have there car fix but not your
In Vic the CTP is included in your rego for injury to you and passengers. It's the compulsory Government Insurer TAC (Transport Accident Commission) Just pray you never need to claim on it, (speaking from personal experience) the TAC is the closest thing to legalised fraud anyone will experience in the state.
Regardless of wether or not your condition has stabillised, regardless if you have returned to normal and regardless of wether you have even returned to work TAC can and does stop paying for treatment once a pre-determined budget for the type of injury you have has been spent. They justify this by having a doctor who never actually sees you, review your file and decide you don't need treatment, in spite of specialist opinion which says you still need it.
Appeal any TAC decision to VCAT and wait 9mths plus for a hearing!!! No wonder Victorians are leaving Vic in droves to go to Qld. At least in Qld you can be disabled or injured in the sun and get a tan!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Back to the point.
CTP Fire and Theft, covers your car if stolen or burnt to ashes and damage that your vehicle causes. If you are in a prang and it is your fault, the damage to your car is not covered.
