hey there guys my fuel gauge is not working the best it reads half a tank but is full, when i turn the car off the needle drops nearly all the way down (past the empty) and i just filled it up and it only comes up w/ half a tank, is there like an adjuster behind the dash that i can tweek to make it work?

mine doesnt seem to read correctly either, ive got a vt v6 and it drops randomly slowly decreasing then will go back up counting the "km's to empty" up higher to where it was before it dropped....

replace fuel sender? or what could it be?

My empty on my fuel gage is quarter of a tank. so when i fill my car i only get 3 quarters instead of a full tank. i need to get a new electronic fuel pump and fix the fuel float. you may have to do the same thing.

or it may be your fuel gauge is faulty, its a common problem. with mine its the fuel float but yours seems like the gauge. try and replace the fuel pump first if that doesn't work, try the relays and if that still dont work then its the fuel gauge. hope this helps

mine is like when you wind the clock back half an hour and it is always half an hour behind if that makes sense, ill try get a photo up, but you could have a bad level system? th part inside the tank that tells you how much you have left, sounds like that could be the problem.

the relays in the engine bay? stupid question but where is the fuel pump located in the car? and would it be a simple matter of replacing theneedle? or a bit more complicated

yeah thats what i mean you nailed it, maybe the "leveling system" is faulty? how would i go about checking this? or what would i be looking for? im good with mechanical things and have a full workshop where i live (on a farm in Mundubbera) gf's dad is a mechanic with his own business here =P

mine seems to do what your sayin aswel - says its empty but really theres about quarter of a tank still there...its fustrating cos i go to fuel up and all of a sudden theres more fuel than i put in lol

its a plastic fuel tank that you got, the fuel pump is on the top of the fuel tank bolted in which means you have to take the complete fuel tank off the car to replace the fuel pump. it is located under the boot. and yes the relay in the engine bay.
