hey guys. my VT just cut out today (luckily at the end of my driveway) and refuses to start. it will keep cranking, but wont turn over.
I checked the fuses and volts from the battery, and all checks out fine. So i checked for codes, and all i pulled was code 19, and code 35. which research led me to believe its the throttle position sensor sticking open, and the idle air control valve...
Anyway, i have an '89 VN V6, and i was wondering if i raid the TPS and IAC off that, and put it on my '97 VT 5L, will it work? are there any differences between the 2, and would this probably fix the problem or am i just wasting my time?
Any other suggestions more than welcome!
Cheers![]()
You kmay be able to check for any numbers on them and compare to see if they are the same. I know the IAC was revised on the V6's from the original design on the first lot of VN's. You could also check with Holden and see if they have the same part numbers.
well i tried the swap, but to no success. they were different part numbers, as i assumed they would have been.. but they looked exactly the same as one another.
I threw the throttle body back in nice and clean with the IAC and TPS from the VN, and took the positive terminal off the battery for 30 odd seconds in the hope it might reset the computer?? Any way, none of this made any difference what so ever. Anybody able to shed light on what the issue may be pls?
Seen as how its easter and no-one can look at it till tuesday next week, i need my car for work before monday night, so any D.I.Y tips or diagnostics i could do myself would be awesome! Thanks!
have you got spark???? have u got fuel pressure?????
might check out the spark situation tomorrow morning thanks!
not sure how to check fuel pressure though, any chance of a quick run down pls mate? also, i was thinking maybe the injectors could be blocked, if so, would i be able to physically see if they are blocked when i take them out?
