Default largest front rotors you can fit to a VT?

ey guys im wondering whats the largest front brake rotors you can fit on a VT calais...ive read somewhere you could fit 320mm dont know if this is true or not...and if it is true is there anyone who supplies them and roughly how much do they cost...also is there a particular model you can interchange with, ie 320mm rotors from a HSV VZ or something...also if i do upgrade the rotors do i need any caliper adapters and if so where could i source them from?

    Cheers

I was told that VE brakes will fit onto a VT with a conversion, but minimum wheel size is 17". Dunno how big they are.

They would want to be a lot better than your twin piston fronts for $850/890, but i hear they are and if you are serious about upgrading your brakes then I would say these are the way instead of going 4/6 piston IMO. Alternatively, you could upgrade your whole car if absolute safety is your priority, because while these brakes will stop great and not lock up (with ABS), they won't come close to ESC in an emergency situation.

i want to get the best braking performance i can get for my car, ie the largest rotors and pads...i was looking for something big but first wanted to see my options other than the VE upgrade as i haven't heard too much about the VE calipers vs the VT calipers and if there is much braking differences...has anyone got anything i can go on?

in comparison from standard brakes, slotted rotors and police spec pads are a major stopping distance, if you are at this level and still feel inadequate then yes you should go the 322mm ve upgrade although its twice the price.

The VE upgrade doesn't seem worth the price.
From what i gather, slotted rotors are the way to go as the slots are always taking that sheen off the pad, meaning they wear quicker, but perform better.
FPV currently use drilled rotors, they don't use slotted at all.
But i guess if you want to maximise performance and aren't worried about pad life then go the slotted and cross drilled rotors, or even upgrade to 4/6 pot brakes.
If you don't want to spend lots of money on upgrading, then the VT brakes are a good compromise between economy and safe performance.

Slotted rotors over standard will be better every time. The standard size on the VT are 298mm anyway, so 322mm won't look much bigger.

I can do that VE upgrade for the VT for $750. Or slotted rotors in the same pattern as the VE upgrade for $150, or standard straight slots for $130 a pair.

I wouldn't go cross drilled as they are prone to cracking. Great performance but not a very long life.

I disagree with the slotted rotors being better. I had slotted rotors and have recently swapped to QFM rotors without the slots and they have just as much bite. imo the slots do nothing other than make your brakes noisy.

When you brake hard a lot and generate enough heat, then tell me that the slots do nothing.

I've got slotted crossed drilled DBA Front Rotors, Had em for about 1 1/2 yrs, havn't had any cracking with them. I must say they are a far improvement over stock standard rotors and pads. However they spread a lot of brake dust around the front wheels, of which i can live with for better brake performance.

slotted rotors wont make you stop ant quicker. slotted rotors stop the build up of gas between the pad and rotor, thus making them run cooler and not faded as quick when punished . unless you do a lot of track work you wont get much benifit from big rotors and 6 piston calipers(except for the huge hole in your bank balance), i'd stick to standard sized rotors and motorsport inspired pads like bendex ultimate, EBC greensuff or some thing like that.

The VE calipers are a MASSIVE step up from VT. The VE has less caliper flex, smaller pistons (which are still large, just the VT are ridiculous) for better pedal feel and bite, and work on a pad with less radially swept angle, so they provide alot better pedal feel.

The 322mm kits are a good step up from standard VT-VZ brakes.
