Cool vh and va series engine numbers

    Hi Gang...

i been looking at my new engine..or i should say replacement engine... and the guys at the wreckers got a little confused on the series replacement donor car....

i was saying to them vx and they said both vx or vy....
so i thought ..must be a way of finding out...
so before i go ask holden.....see if they know.... i thought i test our knowledge base...

now the vt had a vh series engine...which i believe is a series 1....
the engine number was vh862315 a car built on 23/3/1999

the new engine is a va109129...unsure donor...
i happen to think is a vx...dont know the series...

so easy way to find out...is anyone with a vt --vx with a va series number...tell me what your build date is and wipe out the number if you like...but tell me if the first number is 0-9 and if you have all 6 digits
this should give a number sequence for date...

like the above series 1 in 23/3/1999 you prob guess its the last of series 1 engine number is close to million...
i figuring that vt series ones dated 1998 made prob have engine numbers say...500000---750000

so that what i am looking for a rough quide...to see what va series i got and what was likely to be its donor....

so if anyone can tell me straight out ..or give me clues ..great

    thanks

The engine number VA109129 was put into a VX around Mr 2001. The numbers I have recorded for march 2001 are from VA107689 to 109100.

    Hope that helps you.

VX went from Aug 2000 to Aug 2002 so I'd guess that Aug 2001 would have been the series 2 date (approx).

VA was the prefix change over for the VX cars.

    so..that being true ...i have swapped a series 1 for a series 1.....
but i gone from the 147kw to 153kw engine and i gone from a 1999 made engine to a 2001 made engine

i kewl with that.... i had 230-240K on the old one....
and i was told this one had somewhere under 100k....

so if the car was made with the engine around 2001..it might not had hit the road till 2002... so its no older than 9 years...
and prob only 8 years in use..so it was a low kms car...over a long time
which i am also kewl about...
    because the block has aged
once upon a time engine blocks had been made ..coated and left to age like wine...!
and a few years later got cleaned and fitted up and installed...

    thanks mate

The power gain was just in the program difference between those two engines, not an engine change. Engines that have been heat cycled for many years are stronger than a new block
