I'm pretty sure that at least one, possibly two of the screws holding the mirror on is behind the door trim.

Just pull off the triangular trim and you will see 3 phillips head screws.Undo them then disconect the wiring harness and the jobs done

I'm wondering is this the same for a vz? I have to replace the passenger side one.

Awesome news. I wasn't looking forward to pulling off the whole door trim.

Just wanted to update my success on doing this, for a vz exe you do have to pull off the front door trim to get to the two lower bolts that hold the mirror on but in saying that it only takes a few minute to get it off, after that it's really simple...oh and the bolts that hold the mirror are the star shaped Allen key style ones not the two 10mm bolts you see in there.
