hey. should be my last question. (hopefully)
main question is- how do i adjust auto shifter linkage correctly?
why- my auto is jumping forward a little bit when i first start the car, its like it jumps forward then locks properly into park, (theres that clunk like when ya put it into park) its also not changing into 4th properly under really really light throttle, (slips or rev's for a sec or 2) if give it a little bit of throttle its firm and quick as normal.. im hoping i've just put the selector on wrong/out of wack but i followed 'gregorys' instructions step by step..
-is there a secret nack to adjust it ?
-or is there no chance thats whats causing my problems?.
(gregory says- rough upshift could be incorrectly adjusted linkage ) so guna have another go anyway. there the only 2 prob's with the auto, apart from them its fine, 1st 2nd 3rd is all quick and really firm when changing up or down gears on full or light throttle. hwy's good, if drop back to 3rd then 4th its fine. just with the really really light throttle changing 3rd - 4th at 70k's it plays up.
also the noise that i thought was my motor die'n extreamly quick is only noise from the charger.(thank god) take off the belt and its as smooth as poo, no noise's what so ever. absolutely stoked.. (i were stressing it was running lean and were frying my motor) anyway- HAVING NO IDEA ITS A COMMON PROBLEM i replaced the coupler when i put the motor in but only got a second hand one from the wreckers. im guna replace it again(with a new one) but not sure if there are bearings or other parts that are common to let go aswell in the chargers, and if i should change them too while i have it off the car.
so basicly asking if i should just replace just the coupler, or if i should change bearings or if there is anything else to look out for while i have charger in bits. just not to keen on taking it off a 3rd time.
With the trans. Mine jumps forward when i first start it. It has been like this since i bought the car with 48000 Km on it so it could be just a normall thing with them. You might need to adjust the 4th gear brake band to stop the slipping on upshifts.
4th gear brake band- have no idea what that is but sounds better than a rebuild. is it pretty quick and simple for an auto specialist to do? like is it guna cost couple of hundred/$1000/$2000.(if u know)
i just try'd driving and holding it half way between drive and nutral and drive and 3rd but still did it. (it did seem different thou, neutralised longer once and changed normal once), but not sure if the linkage being out of wack is the problem but guna try it again tomoz on open road. cheapest things first
thanks for replying too
