You can do it if you want, but you will stuff your handbrake and prob all the things related. You will stuff the "teeth" on the handbrake then you will need to replace it.
I would say don't do it, plus there's no point. :-)

no point in going through retightening your handbreak for something stupid like handbreak turns, as TrikkBen said, they're for crap little FWD cars that lack power.

The handbrake setup on IRS commodores means that you have to do about...30-40km/h and then throw the handbrake on. Otherwise the axles absorb the shock and you get nowhere

Here's the effect, if you were running down the street and someone grabbed your legs up and threw you sideways. How do you think that is going to end?! Once you put your car sideways you are a passenger, one of my mates did one and went sideways into a gutter, goodbye bottom of car.

It's illegal and dangerous. I wouldn't be doing it...

I am 18 y.o. red p plater, how is it I recommend responsible driving?

had a vt exec few yrs ago handled a few hbrakies pretty well, nothing broke on it just screwd the treads on the tyres up

Not saying its a good idea on the streets, but on a farm in a paddock...ok

doesnt matter what car your in - it'll do handbrakies!! Only problem is is that they are all gunna cost ya, be it points off your licence or new tyres, new handbrakes etc.

I did a few in my work car (never try it in mine). locks up well but then your be driving around with flatspots on your tyres making a verrrrrry irritating noise!

    DONT DO IT

vn onwards handbrake is designed as a park brake only and shouldnt be used to stop a car or do a handbrake turns , the park brake shoes inside the rear disc hub are small compared to the older vl drum brake set up which the handbrake operates on , have seen and repaired many rear brakes coz of people doing hand brake turns bends the shoes and the backing plate destory's disc hubs etc etc .
