Lightbulb Mysterious FuseBox Mod on Ex Police VX SII (2002)

    Hi All,
For a few years we have been pondering over what the mysterious fuse bypass plug does in my dads VX (Ex police persuit car). Its basically a plug that fits into a standard fuse connection, and has 2 cables (red/black), of fairly decent guage coming out and dissapearing towards the front of the car (dont want to pull the dash apart to trace them).
From what we can tell we dont think it does anything performance wise, but i've attatched some photo's to see if any of you know what it is.
    Cheers

Hey I'm 90% sure that's the old wiring to the police radio. Does it have power??? Should run with the loom somewhere into the engine bay, depending on when it was installed.

That my friend, is for the police interior illum kill switch. Plugs into your interior illum fuse slot, then you plug your fuse into the inline fuse holder. If you dont have a button on the dash (where your fog light switch usually is) you can pull your dash forward and should have a loom for it just sitting there.

Its for when cops could just sit there and turn off all interior lights (boot, glove box, centre console box, sunvisors etc) so they could remain hidden. You could hook it up again if you wanted! its pretty handy to have. EG your working on ur car during the day, kill all interior light so your battery doesnt drain

Aha!! You sir are a legend....the switch is still there although it has never done, anything, so i plugged the loom into the 10A interior lighting fuse connection, and now i have a working lights kill switch
Cheers mate, and your right, shall indeed come in handy

    Hello

Haha this worked for me too! I've had that useless switch in there for years

but one thing, what did you mean by ", then you plug your fuse into the inline fuse holder."
I'm wondering because i took the fuse out, does my interior lighting still have a fuse?

    cheers

    and thanks a 1,000,000
