I just purchased year 2000 VT V6 Berlina Wagon with EF2 suspension, just found only drive 370 km, and show up run out of fuel, can not start. The manual said it has 75L tank. Every time I refill only can fill 53L tank maximum.
Is my tank smaller than others due to with EF2 suspension?
Thanks mate!
More then likely you see used low right?. So you fill it up assuming you have used a good 60-70 litres of fuel. But it really tells you your low at around 50 litres. I've seen cars do 450km and use 45 litres and the little light comes on saying its got 10 or 15 litres left, and 80km?. More it's got a good 25L left in it. They keep to much in reserve, more then i like.
Best way is to go by fuel used, and if she runs out after 53L something is wrong.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.
Possible dent in the tank could make it lose some volume? Doubt it though.

If it actually runs out of fuel and stops after 53 litres maybe something is wrong with the fuel pick-up, not sure what they are like on a VT but maybe the pump can't access the last 20 litres or so due to a fault in the pick-up. Or do you mean the gauge shows empty but only takes 53 litres?
My vx SS also does this low fuel light and beep comes on after about 55 litres used when theres a 75 litre tank ive been told 2 reasons for this happening, 1: it was a fault in the earlier vt and vx models and it needs recalibrating? but mines a series II vx and STILL has the problem? or 2: the low fuel warning kicks in and guage shows empty because the fuel pump has to be submerged in at least 15 litres of fuel at all times...im not sure which explaination is the right 1 maybe its a little bit of both? it strikes me as odd that there would be 15 litres you cannot use or else the fuel pump shits itself but a mechanics told me this and an racv bloke once told me the same thing also...
Same with my VY SS. I've run distance to empty right down to zero, driven another 50 kilometres and it has still only taken 61 litres. If I fill up when the low fuel warning light comes on, I'm lucky to get 50 litres in.
i might record from distance till empty 0km's and see how far i get till it stops...i'd say its about 75km...
I had a VT series 1 V6 and I often put 70 plus litres in that, my VX SS I have never emptied it right out but have on the odd occassion put 65 plus litres in. The original poster said he ran out of fuel and car would not start but only took 53 litres, that is different to inaccurate fuel gauge readings.
ya should not empty ya tank right out any ways. you will pick up all the shit in the bottom of the tank eg water and dirt an grit
