Hey all, got a bit of a bonus from work so i'm going to fix all these little minor things wrong with my car at the moment. 99' VT II sedan
1. Rear shockers - Its getting a bit uncomfortable going over bumps and theres a bit of noise at the rear when i do go over bumps. Already done a ring around and Midas seem to be the cheapest so far, quoted me $260...anything cheaper?
2. Transmission flush - Trans oil is looking very dirty right now, i havent changed it since i bought the car used 2yrs ago. Midas quoted $269 for this
3. Front Sway Bar Link Bushes - I'm getting some "creaking" noise sometimes when i'm turning, last time i had my car serviced ultratune did tell me the bushes were looking worn. Any ideas what this would cost?
looking to get this done for the cheapest possible, plan on getting a new car at the end of this year. Thanks for any help.
have you considered doing most of these yourself?
eg. New oil for transmission is like $20 max and it is possible to do it urself, jst need some basic mechanic tools eg. sockets a bucket / pan and a jack.
as for shockers, rear are the easiest to do also able to be done by urself, can get new shockers for around $50-110ea depending on brand and quality
and if your eager enough it is also possible to do your swaybar linkages too..
otherwise if your going to get all this done, you might aswell get it done by one mechanic at one place save you the running around. I get all my car repairs i cant do myself and servicing done by BTP Automotive on the corner of tolley road and smart road, st agnes, (83959981) Terry there is very reliable, no bulsht talking 100% accurate and has great customer service, wouldnt advise if i didnt trust him. Say sean sent you, hel look after any new customers.
Goodluck,
Social.
Rear shocks require a jack (in boot), don't even need stands since you don't have to get under, a spanner, and about 15 minutes per side. Easy as. And only about $70 per shock.
Transmission flush, I got mine done by a transmission place for $150. Though now I believe I will do it myself.
Front sway bar link bushes. If thats the link pin bushes, throw whole link pin in bin and get Nolathane Z link pins. Cost about $50 and easy as hell to do yourself.

Hey guys, thanks for the input i had considered doing the shockers myself, although im not certain on which ones i should buy...pretty sure the car has been lowered.
Don't they hook the car up to some machine to flush the trans? It might just be a lot easier and quicker for me to get it done somewhere. I will phone up the place social recommended tommorrow and see whats what
I had my auto serviced by a transmission specialist (ATS) and it cosy $160 so Midas are ripping you off.
