Hi all just wanting to know what people paid for there ls1 leads from holden?
I got a quote from them and it was $50 per lead which i was thinking was a bit rich.
what leads do you guys suggest and what did ya's pay?
Thanks in advance
That can't be right, perhaps it was for a set.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
i thort it was for a set but on the writtin quote it said qty 1, i went back and asked them and they said it was each, i might have to go back and ask again
Pretty sure i paid $70 for a set of top gun leads i think, They were from repco
Yes, they are $50 each but they should also have given you the option to purchase a set alot cheaper.
Thats crazy, there only 6 inches long!! I think i can get some oem leads from the u.s for around $80 a set but i dont like buying from overseas
Thanks rb26dett, do you know what a set is worth?

Still havn't heard from QLD ignition sorry guys, I'l try call them next week if i get a chance
hey bud i went to my local holden dealer not long ago same thing.. 50ea..
i was shocked too a! anyway id broken one when i changed the plugs as it was seized onto the plug,,, so i ended up getting a bosch set from supercheap for 179 i think, probably not the best deal but hell of a lot cheaper then holden..
geez holden should be ashamed of themselves if they are asking $50 a lead, i just bought a set from burson NGK 8mm for $123.75 thats $15.47 each
just found these seems like a good deal >>>> COMMODORE CHEV LS1 5.7L GENIII MSD LEADS VT VU VX VY VZ - eBay Ignition Wires, Ignition Systems, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 11-May-10 20:35:55 AEST)
Bosch Motorsport leads @ $144 a set
Thanks for your input guys,
stockvrcalais: Those ngk's sound alright, i swear burson told me $180 for them the bastards!! have been watching those msd's they seem alright but i've heard bad things about them on ls1's, someone told me they were heaps to long?
Bosch seem alright price but i dont really like bosch lol
I got some prices from autobarn for top gun the other day, cant remember exact prices but they were around 130 for 8mm? 180 for 8.5mm and 3?? for 10mm which is still cheaper than holden leads
jay, if your engine is stock then i think 8mm will be plenty, you wont really need 10mm leads, what you should do is have all the phone numbers ready (bursons, autobarn etc), sit down call tham all, find the cheapest priced seller and go get them, saves you running around like a headless chook, i cant see leads costing you more say $150.....
yea i know i wont need 10mm i only got the price cause the guy at autobarn was curios as to what all the leads for ls1 are worth.
Now that i know what alot of brands are worth what do people recommend?
NGK?
Bosch?
Top Gun?
Eagle?
Msd?
Custom leads?
Packard (OEM)?
Thanks heaps for all your input guys
hmmmm ive never had any issues with ngk so ill say.....ngk lol
Hey Guys I just rang Qld Ignition got a price for the gen 3 leads, we're looking at $130 per set of 9mm spiral wound leads + about $10 postage, I think I'l be going with these![]()
Ok, got my leads today, not happy, look like cheap shit!!! and a pain in the arse to fit as the center bit that clips onto the coil sits off center, and they were meant to be 9mm not 8.8mm... I would of been better off making my own leads!!! Oh and they're about 30mm bigger than the standard leads.
And to make things worse my car still idles rough...GRRR!!!
