hey guys , i wanna put a system in my vt
i was thinking new speakers in the front and rear doors, as well as the picking in new speakers o the back parcel shelf, with a sub in the back,
can some one please recommand me wat size speakers for doors and parcel shelf, and wat size sub, as well as wat size amps and how many?
plus any ideas on a double sizes screen head units?
OK first, we need to know your budget. Secondly, what type of music do you listen to? Third, will you install this yourself?
Then the all-round best sounding combo is, the best front speakers you can afford, plus a sub, with suitable amp(s). One good pair of speakers will outperform 3 sets of normal speakers. For the front doors, basically any 6" or 6.5" speakers will fit.
As for the sub, 12" subs are great all-rounders, but 10" are great for fast bass, while 15" are great for deep slow bass.
As for amps it will come down to your budget.

theres no real point in putting speakers on the rear doors + parcel shelf if you are getting subs in the boot. the subs will just cancel out the 6x9's in the shelf and its a complete waste of time and money.
and as states as above, whats your budget, because thats the most important thing here
ive just started putting a system in my car i removed the fron door speakers and also belted out the metal speakers plates in the back . i found it easier to remove the center console and i ran the speaker wires under the carpet .ive got 2 x190 watts 2 ways in the front doors and 2 x220 watts 6x9s on the back parcel shelf all sony explode brand .i will be replacing the rear speakers cause they have cuts in the speaker which dont sound to good new ones will be soon along with a amp and sub cant wait dooof dooof
As much as I would like to say 'good for you', you basically have done a lot of things wrong.
1. Removing centre console is definitely the hard way, removing side/scuff plats is much easier.
2. 3 sets of speakers is a waste of money that could of gone towards a very good set of front door speakers.
3. 6x9" and subs is also a waste of money. 6x9" are designed for people who don't want subs, as they are basically a 8" sub.
4. You bought Sony, not much else needs to be said on this one.
In saying this, I don't want to appear offensive or condescending. If your happy then go for gold.

man i got 6x9's when fed only mid's and high's they go just as good as any 6's, i have sony rears, hes got a point, my front pioneers crap all over them and their tiny....., and the more speakers you have, the more vivid your mid range is, and if someone is sitting on the back, it will sound ALOT better, yes....some people care how their cars sound in the back seat, hence i have 4 tweeters, 2 in dash, 2 mounted on pillar where seatbelts go, in the back seat its surround sound pretty much, go for broke, experiment, i was shattered when mien sounded like crap, then bought 1 or 2 things more, and im wrapped, and GO TWIN SUBS![]()
6x9" can be quite good as a mid-range driver, as long as they are set up properly they can be useful.
As for more speakers = better mid-range, not so. If you have 4 normal/decent speakers, and 2 great speakers, the mid will be a LOT better with the single pair of great speakers.

Put splits in the front which are running 6.5" kevlar's, tweeters
rear speakers are powerful 6x6's
rear parcel shelf is powerful pioneer 6x9's hooked up to amp
boot contains the amp and massive pioneer subwoofer.
people will give you crap over hte decisions you make, what you get etc, look at it this way.
Some people like Skylines, some are into wrx's, some like commodores. You got tech, you got data you have people who will like to piss on who does what.
Doesnt really matter if at the end of the day you like the sound, who cares what anyone else thinks.
Just plan a system to your budget, if you wanna use the rear space for speakers go for it, dont think because something is more expensive its better, this got proven with my first car when a mate went out and followed teh whole 'dont buy cheap blow tons of money on an expensive set' and i had someone put together a set of sup'd up cheap speakers (4.5" speakers which were heavily modified using a soldering iron, some splits made while he was meant to working at the Raaf base using their tools and stuff) and made a set of the most powerful 4.5" pioneer speakers i've ever heard.
But yeah things to avoid, paying too much/going over budget, set a strict budget, dont get talked into deals based off someone elses preferences unless you have heard their setup and you like the sound (do not base sound tests of speakers you hear on the wall in a audio shop, they will NOT sound the same in your car... ask people why lol).
If your gonna wire it up yourself, its a great learning experience, get yourself a set of wire crimpers, follow safety procedures, and for hte love of god, CONNECT THE 12, ACC AND GROUND PROPERLY, meaning do not wire these unless you are 100% certain that they are in the proper spots.
each other connection wont cause damage but seen a lot of people incorrectly wire these
no offence taken .but i also had to get rid of the stock stereo it was stuffed and couldnt get anything to expensive just now .also there was another reason i didnt run the wires down under the side covers near the seats .i had the car in my carport doing some work inside it and had the rear left door open a bit handbrake failed and it was in nuetral when it rolled back to hit a pole on the carport nealy ripping the door off .it looked like a lambogihni the doors was stuffed had
since then the right hand side speaker wires have not worked .i was tld i probably had pinched a wire .so i cut back enough to try hooking speakers up and still nothing so i ran the wires from ther back of the stereo down past the gear shitfeer in and out through the holes in the carpet .

i was so pissed off i had my foot on the brake when it finally hit the pole and called out to the missus to come and help i had to do the heel toe take off because if i let the brake fully off it would have fallen back just that bit more .like a cm or so
