Default help:: Drivers side rear passenger window problems!!!

ey guys, i have a 01 VX SII Acclaim and i bought the car with a rear drivers side window fault. It goes down, reaches just before half way and then stops and makes a continueous clunking noise as the motor wants to take it down but something is stopping it. u can push the window down n once a bit of momentom hits the top it will continue to go down, however when returning up will stop in the same place n need assistance in bringing it back up. As i am a mechanic also, i have my suspicions it was the rails, so i adjused them and played around with them and it seemed to help but not enough. im now moving towards a problem with the window regulator? has anyone had the same problem or could help me out? thanks.

electric windows are a bit different to that, the runners run vertical, there are plastic runners on the front edge of the window (i think) but not sure if they are replaceable, they may be the cause of your problem too,

i wouldn't go out and buy one just yet, i'd take the window out and inspect, clean and lubricate everything thoroughly, maybe see if the motor works ok without the window in

apparently its the teeth in the reg, anyone know where i can get the rivets used to hold em in? or if bolts and nuts will do the trick?? also if i was using rivets where i could get a rivet gun, and a basic how to would be much appreciated, iv tried to search.

the rivets are large head 3/16th, should be able to get them from an industrial supplier or hardware store, rivets will be about 30 cents each and your rivet gun maybe 20 for a cheapo, cant see a problem with using bolts but the may push on the door trims, maybe get pan head bolts with a phillips drive as there pretty slim, and nylock nuts, goodluck

The rivets are a little different to normal rivets and I couldn't find them anywhere but Holden, unfortunately they are $2 each. A Gregory's manual will explain the procedure, it will cost you $40-45 but will save you money in the long run.

yeah what you've said sounds about right, not sure if tape will hold the window up but give it a go, you might need an assistant or just support the window with one hand and swap them over with the other, good luck

Nah shouldn't have to take the window out, if you have the window half down it should make it easier to remove the reg from the glass then push the window up out of the way to get the reg out, lol good idea love takin shit from rip off wreckers
