Default VXII Coolant leaking from bell housing

My Vx V6 is leaking coolant from the rear seal carrier/brace plate. Is this a common fault? Sounds like all the repairers are aware of the problem but I can't find anything on the net. I'm gutted that my trusty cast iron pushrod engine has a dodgy alloy plate bolted to the back of the engine where it's expensive to get to. Is it just a matter of replacing the rear plate with a factory item or are there any alternatives? Thanks in advance for any feedback, cheers

Sounds like the rear cover plate (if i can remember the name correctly). Best option is to get a genuine one from holden cos you dont want to end up having replaced it then week later it fails cos somehow it jjust not lining up peerfectly because its an aftermarket one.
With it beeing a gearbox off job you want to make sure you only have to do it once.

the rear main cover plate also covers a coolant gallery. the alloy plate corrodes and they leak. buy a genuine holden one as the come with a new plate, gasket and new bolts for around $120.
