    Default Sticky ignition key

How do I replace the ignition switch on my vt. Its sticking on and I am worried that it may damage the starter long term.
Is this something I can do simply??

It sounds like the spring in the switch has broken. It's not as easy as it should be to replace. First you must remove the barrel (do a search for that info) and then the removal of the switch is easy.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

Its the first sign that the ignition barrel is on its way out. A brand new ignition barrel should just let you slide your key in (sounds like "SSCCHH-LICK) and no problems in pushing the contacts for the ignition switch. I had mine replaced as the alloy part of the ignition barrel had broken off clean at the top and the key was just spinning but not activating or touching the ignition.
It isnt a DIY to be done at home as you would have to removed the steering column and deal with torx screws which are holding onto the barrel attached to the steering. Cost bout B$150 brand new for me

i replaced my ignition switch without removing the barell or steerig column
Just trying to think back what i had to do.
Shroud off, should be one very small alan key bolt to undo (i used a small flat head screw driver to undo as wasnt that tight)
    Remove all wiring from it
"SHOULD" then slide out, i emphasise on should as mine didnt. My memories a bit vague so fogive me if its not 100% right but you may have to fiddle with different positions of the key to get it to slide off.
Then just pop the new one back on again you will need to fiddle with key positions.
