What is wrong with the one in the car now, what parts of it are worn out? If it's internal seals etc it's a bit complicated however if it just needs new rack ends and a mesh adjustment that's pretty easy, rack ends ther eis a special tool to support th erack while R&R the ends otherwise you need to remove it and support rack gear in a vice so bending torque does not chick the rack and pinion gears where they mesh. Mesh adjustment you need a torque wrench, in hex socket (made one by filing down a nut on one end) it's not hard to do.

the pump has mild leaks which im gonna rebuild sooon/new seal kit. and the rack end boot covers are ripped so need replacing i dont think the rack itself is leaking as i had it put on a hoist yesterday ive changed racks before with my mechanic mate when i worked ad a trade assistant .but have never actually rebuilt the racks .im sure its not leaking so hopefullly may just need new rack ends and boot covers all over

if its just the boots itself its a piece of piss.
usually you just have to undo the tie rod ends, cut the clips or cable ties holding the boot then slide off.
spay the inside of the new boot and rack end with silicon spray and slide back over and apply the new cable ties.

Holmart have reco pumps for $99 no change over and I've seen new racks on the net for about that price! Do you know how to check the rack ends while the rack is on the car? They may be OK. When you do the boots I think you need to put some EP grease on the rack gears as well.
