just thought id post my problem and solution, and hope it might help someone..
My VT has for the last 8 months or so had an intermittent problem (happened only 3-4times in the 8 months) where you would be driving (at any speed) and it would just cut out. But on all previous occasions i had been able to re-start it and keep going. 4 weeks ago, i had just taken off from home, didnt even get into 3rd gear and it cut out, only this time it refused to start. it would just crank and crank but not start. i checked for fault codes and all it give me was the TPS and IAC valve. so i had a spare throttle body with a TPS and IAC that i pulled out and swapped over, but didnt do anything. battery was fine, fuses and earths where good, then realised i had no spark. had an auto sparky have a look, who scratched his head and just palmed me off to the mechanic. so i towed it to a mechanic who had it for a week, he checked CAS and all other common faults, but couldnt fix it. had to take it to another mechanic with more advanced testing equipment, and after 3 weeks it was found to be the ignition module. cost me $255 for a new ignition module (among other things, labour etc) and hasnt skipped a beat yet.
so if u got similar symptoms, theres somethin else u can try. hope this helps some ppl out! cus it cost me $1400 all up to solve and rectify this![]()
Hi, I am fairly new to the later commodores (VT on), What is it you are calling the ignition module?
ignition trigger module that supply's the spark to the coil. looks like a small square heatsink thing with one wire comin outta it. im no mechanic so i cant really go into detail sorry lol. my VT is a 5L V8 by the way
