Help With reading codes

I have a 2001 wh caprice with an ls1 gen3 engine
my check engine code turn on a month ago
i have been trying to read the codes since then
i have bought 2 scan tools but they dont work
can someone please give me the name of a scan tool that they used and knows it works with
my car or holden gen3 in general
i would really apriciate it alot

hmmmm im under the impression that for the VT onwards you need a scan tool called a TECH 2......someone correct me if im wrong.

I bought one called Memoscan, it doesn't read codes on the LS1 either but it does read some live data. Maybe you should go to Holden to get the codes read, it would be cheaper than buying another scan tool that doesn't work. I know how you feel though, I'd like to be able to read them myself. Jaycar have scanners that may work, ask them they might know if the will work with the LS1.

Then I suggest you check out EFI Live, it's a little expensive but nowhere near the cost of a Tech 2.
