Default Oil Light briefly when shifting from D to R.

    Hey all,

I've recently got my car ('98 VT SS 5.0L) and I've noticed a couple small things with it (as you do usually when you acquire something second hand).
Anyway, I've noticed a couple of times that when going from Drive into Reverse, the oil light briefly shows on the dash and the warning light will sound, then it'll disappear (usually within seconds).

Now I topped up the oil on Friday because it was getting towards the lower end and I'll be servicing the car soon (and getting it inspected so I can start from scratch and know everything that's wrong with it), but still it's happened once or twice since.

Just wondering if this is normal, if not, anyone have an idea what it'd be ?

    Cheers!

if there was an issue with oil pressure it would be there constantly, and changing from D to R wouldnt cause oil pressure to dip, ide say its a wiring issue but if your worried, u can get an oil presure tester, all u need to do is remove the oil pressure switch screw the pressure guage in and make sure your car has adequate oil pressure

but personally i dont think its anything that serious but a wiring issue

Thanks HBDCalais, was a little unsure what it'd be, and figured if it's showing oil light constantly it'd be bad but if it's briefly it wouldn't be too much to worry about.
Was just unsure if this was a common occurance or not.
Will be getting the car serviced and looked over soon hopefully
