Hi All
My VT has been having some electrical problems recently, the battery will randomly go flat overnight, sometimes it can happen 2 nights in 1 week, sometimes it can go months without going flat.
The alternator has been checked and is ok (doesnt charge at idle but is ok above 1500), battery has been checked and is fine (only 8 months old).
I have tried removing all the interior globes including boot and glovebox, but it still goes flat.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check next.
And when I say flat its dead flat, not even odometer is displayed.
First get your alternator fixed....it should charge your battery even if its idling. Ideally the voltage should sit somewhere in the 13-14V region when idling. Its easy as replacing the carbon brushes and regulator unit in your alternator.
Next take a look at your relays. It could be one or more of them are "sticking" on randomly when you've turned your ignition to off. For this you can either replace your entire lot of relays (can be expensive), or by trial and error which you'll need your car electrical schematic and try marking (to help keep track of which relays you've swapped) and swapping the relays around to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks ACEMonkey, Ill give your advice a try and let you know how it goes
Thanks again for your advice
