Hi All,
I am a new Holden owner (well, many years ago had an EH Wagon & VN) and am looking forward to being a part of the community.
I have just moved to Adelaide from NZ and picked up a 2001 VXII Acclaim auto. There are a few things that I will do over time but one thing that intrugues me is the clear piece of plastic that covers the letters for drive selection.
I don't have a photo at the moment, but it is completely hazed/faded/crazed to the point where you can't actually tell where the selector is!
I have been trying to figure out what may have caused it - sun, cleaning product or incorrect cleaning product? I have no idea.
I am wondering if anyone else has this same issue and if anyone knows if I can just replace the clear plastic piece or if I need to get a complete gearstick surround?
Any help, info, thoughts, etc is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
i think the easiest thing to do would be to just pick up a new surround from a wrecking yard.. shouldn't cost much at all
Yeah, thats was my thoughts. Being new to Aussie I'm not really sure where any are but am sure I can find some. I'm interested to know what might of caused!? Other VX's I looked at were mint and had waaaay higher km's and worse condition interior...
I was told the first owner was a Minister of a church so perhaps he spilt some 'holy water'?
i personally have never seen one hazed over as u mentioned but the old owner could have done anything to it hahaha..
crack open google or the yellowpages and it wont be too hard to find a local wreckers
