hey guys im really confused with what i need to put my car on super lows. I have bought super low springs and i have been told i will need lowered shocks. Is this all i need to fit them?
Pleasee help.
cheers
You can fit them without lowered shocks but you wont get much travel out of them before you feel/hear them bump.
Its best to fit lowered shocks but many people do it without, you should also get a adjustable panhard rod and camber kit for the rear as well.
No idea on the price of shocks but the camber kits are around $150.
2nd thought on a adjustable panhard rod I'm not sure if the VT being live axle needs one but if it did its probably around $100-150.
thanks mate great help. I will get lowered shocks now so later on i dont have to change them.
Cheers mate
VT-VZ is IRS unless you have a 1-Tonner or Crewman(i think) therefore no panrod.
In terms of shorter shocks, not something you have to do straight away.
You can drive around with your current shocks and just wait until the wear out, then replace them with more appropriate ones.
I had no issue driving around with SSSL's and stock shocks for a long period before I decided to upgrade to proper, big bore racing shocks.
The shock will wear out quicker and the ride will be more bouncy with the stock shocks, but that's about it.
A camber kit is something you may want to look into however since you have a VT, they have shocking camber issues when you start lowering them. You'd want to go a 4 point to try and combat the camber in my opinion. Be prepared to fork out some cash for this and in particular if you're not going to install it yourself.

how much am i looking at for a camber kit install?
Good luck with it.
what is a camber kit exactually? What do they do? And would you be able to give me a link to a pair?
Cheers

Ok, going to give you a really basic 101 crash course.
The way the IRS rear suspension is set up on a VT, the lower the car sits the more negative camber there is on the rear wheels (Negative camber means they sit like this //---\\ ), so you wear out the inside of your tyres.
There is not adjustment mechanisim available on the standard suspension setup but you can get aftermarket camber kits that have adjusment in them to allow you to dial out some of this negative camber.
They work simply why having a eccentric bolt (google it) in a bush that can be adjusted as needed.
2-point kits just allow camber adjustment while 4-point does camber and toe, which in the end just means you end up with more avaliable adjustment on the camber without ending up with too much toe (google that too).
You can get various kits on ebay but since suspension is a fairly important system on and car, I suggest sticking to tried and trusted brands, whiteline, noltec, nolathane, etc.
Actually, talk to GSLRallySport, they are a sponsor of this site and have a section in the sponsors area.

Also, if you're asking all these questions I would probably advise you have the kit professionally installed rather than trying yourself as you can get things fairly wrong with this sort of thing.
Hope that helps.
alright then. Thanks heaps mate your a great help. Ill let you know how i go
