VT Strut Problems, Help!

the rod in my strut brace has popped out of it's top location, i've taken it out, but now i need to know how to get the bar low enough so i can put it back in.. does this make sense to anyone? sorry i'm kind of car illiterate

I think it is the sway bar link that you are referring to. If it has popped out as you say then there is a problem with it because they should not be able to just pop out. Have a look at the other side and measure the length of both of them because it could have broken a bit off the end so it popped out or the washer could have the centre torn out of it. You will need to undo the other side to lower the bar.
