does it have the traction control come on when you first turn the ignition on?

does it try and stop you if you get wheel spin?

Put the car on grass and hit the accelerator for a couple of seconds. If tyres spin you don't have it, it car loses all power than you have it.

the accelerator pedal will actually pulsate a bit when it's engaging.

wouldnt this suggest he doesnt have it, it should cut power even on dirt, but if its not and just simply just wont spin on bitumen , say a stand still or leaving a corner, thats like most VT's fat and heavy

Sounds like you've got no traction control, its probably the independent rear end and a lack of power
