im looking at a vt 5lt, only has 81,000 on it , my question is ,if the speedo cluster was changed ,then would the speedo reading be the one on the changed cluster ,eg car speedo 250,000ks new changed speedo 81000. could be genuine ,but something seems sus , only 81000 on a 13 yr car ,have not seen car ,only pics, looks ok
ive had mine vx for 2 years now, when i brought it had 44,000kms on it. it was genuine. he was the first owner of the car. so it may be a diffrent cluster but u might be lucky enough to find a great deal. do u no how many owners have had it?

Maybe its done 999,999kms + another 81,000km. LOL.
It IS possible to change a cluster and put in one with lower kms. Wait til you check out the rest of the car and see what vehicle history is available (i.e. previous services/owners etc). I looked at a ute once and it had 124,000km on the clock... yet I read the service sticker on the windscreen that stated 'next service due: 195,000km' . Yours is quite possibly just a low km car if the rest of the car looks mint as well. If not, then could be a sus one
Check log books first if none a bit sus straight away..Check interior to see if worn out carpet & seat trim etc etc.
it is possible to be genuine, my vn had genuine 130,000km on it when i bought it, same deal as above, was one owner car with log books to prove it and that was a 17 year old car.
theres another dude on here with a vn with something like 30,000km, so low k's on a vt isnt that sus to me, just check for log books.

I sold my then 11 year old VN SS in 2001 with only 75,000km on it, my current VX SS which is 9 years old has only 65,000km on it, so there are low km cars around if you look.
I would just really have a good look at the log books and any receipts and check that dates and km match throughout. Just realised it is in a car yard, so get the details of the previous owner and give them a call to confirm km and get a bit more info on its history, you might get a feeing from the previous owner as to whether it all gels, or if something sounds suss.
If the previous owner was geniune I can't see how they would be bothered by you giving them a call. Sounds like a nice car.
It's nice there's still a few around in really mint condition, another guy in my street has a Series I VT Exec (same as mine) and the car has been flogged from day 1 by the looks of it![]()
You're right to be cautious though, hopefully it's all good and you've found a gem.

Nope, mine is a completely stock Series I VT Exec. No kit, no nothing.
You better hope it's not too much like mine, mine has it's 418,000km service this week![]()
