Default Tow hook on a VX

I know there's a hatch in the rear bumper that supposedly should have access to a rear tow hook or a latch. But where do you secure a towing line if you have to tow the VX from the rear? I dont want to secure the tow cable to trailing arms or chassis parts incase it'l tweak the car. similarly, i cant find a tow hook in the front of the VX either.

Just to let everyone know, I dont have to tow the car but just in case. Can i install a tow hook?

I thought you weren't supposed to tow a car behind another, at least not without disconnecting the tailshaft and stuff.

cars are not legaly able to tow other cars in NSW except with a specially designed tow bar. The towbar is 3 metres long with a normal tow hitch on 1 end and a pair of locking chains on the other end. There is another which is shaped like a triangle. both require a driver in the towed vehicle and knowing the beureaucrats in public service, the rules for them have probably changed since I last used these things. Just 1 other thing, on a lot of cars, the so-called "tow rings" are in fact shipping tie down points and not designed for towing at all. The Toyota manual I have explicitly mentions this.

Graham is correct. In most cases, the 'tow hooks' are merely where the car is secured to the boat/truck on delivery to the dealer. After that they are meant to serve no purpose.

And I learned that the hard way, I nearly ripped the so-called "tow hook/ring" completely off an EF Falcon I had to move.

I would never tow a car with another car except for in the most extreme cases, like out bush with no other option. Reason being that you are relying too heavily on the driver of the other car. The other driver has to know exactly when you are braking, turning or anything else, because they are so close there is no time to think.

If it is an auto you need to remove the tailshaft if flat towing for any distance or you risk damaging the auto trans.
