Default electronic fuel reader km thing possibly faulty?

So i was driving around the massive round-about in carrara on the gold coast on the inside lane thinking i should probably go fill up.. looked at the cluster.. still 65km of fuel left.. thought to myself terrific.. ill get fuel tomorrow.. as soon as this happens my car starts to splutter and i brake down in the middle of the round-about at 10 past 3 on a school evening.. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN.. when it defiantly said i had 65km left.. is it faulty or is that just the way they are?? and Yes.. the fuel light was on..

it can be just the way they are or you need to update software, or possibly have the cluster reprogrammed

Haha, that happened to me this morning, said I had 50k's 'til empty. I run out about 10 or 20k's from any petrol station, got 15 lites off the racv guy though for $13.50, was an hour late though.
I don't think I got any warning apart from when I started up, but I should have took the hint when it wouldn't start and I eventually, after many attempts, somehow got it to start and off i went for a good 5 - 10 k's

its very disappointing.. i would expect it to give in at around 10kms till empty.. but carking it with 60kms to go is just not on..
