What's it called?

The thing that goes into the driver side door that stops it from flying open is broken. Anyone know what it's called? I'd just like to get a name (or a better description) before I go to the wreckers!

would replacing this 'door checker' stop the drivers door in my vt jumping and moving when going over bumps in the road??

Most probably not. If your door moves while hitting bumps etc Id be more inclined to say the problem is in the door hinges. When you open your door can you kinda move in up and down?

No it won't. Your problem might be a worn door striker which is the thing in the picture I've attached. The picture is of a rear door but the striker is the same as the front ones. The plastic cover part wears out. It could also be worn hinge pins.Originally Posted by MkyHnly
